Aroma Espresso Bar

Aroma Espresso Bar is to Israel what Starbucks is to the U.S. and since they're located in SOHO and now the Upper West Side and 42 Street also, it's becoming a favorite in Manhattan too. The coffee is made from Arabica beans imported from Africa and whether your choice is a Latte, Cappuccino or Espresso Con Panna you'll also get a little wrapped chocolate along side of it. The sandiwiches and salads are very good. Sandwiches are sold half or whole and there are many tasty selections to choose from. I tend to usually get the Joe's dairy mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, basil with balsamic dressing but, I'm tempted by the Mediterranean eggplant, tomatoes, hard boiled egg, tahini, pickles or the grilled portobello mushrooms, alfalfa sprouts, basil, sun-dried tomato spread sandwiches. Either way, they're big and usually hit the spot. There is free WIFI available for those who want to hang out on the Internet. But I warn you, seats are hard to come by so dirty looks prevail. Prices are moderate for New York standards anyway, I mean $4.40 for half a sandwich, is that expensive? I'm not sure anymore. Either way Aroma Espresso Bar is a good place to take a load off from walking around and relax with a coffee, tea, a sweet or a sandwich.

  1. I'm always looking for a new coffee place, so this one sounds good. Joe The Art of Coffee (on 13th near Union Square) is also good and there's a little basement Italian restaurant right across the street from it that gave me a little biscuit with my coffee when I stopped there. The coffee was 3.50, so a little pricey, but nice atmosphere.
